Jesus only issued one commandment after He had established the Church. A large part of the Church interprets this commandment not to apply to Christians. By this interpretation, they are then free to interpret all the of the scriptures that refer back to this seemingly foundational commandment to apply differently. However, if this commandment is given the respect due the only commandment issued to Christians by Jesus, the meaning of much of the New Testament is seen in a new light. |

Here we explore several portions of scripture that are traditionally understood to have nothing to do with the baptism with the Spirit in the light of Jesus' commandment to the Church to wait for it with passionate anticipation. From this perspective, we find new insight. |
