Who are these overcomers? According to this verse, by their overcoming they have received white raiment. White raiment is typically associated with Jesus' righteousness. However, these overcomers will not have their names blotted out of the book of life. This suggests that some who have received white raiment will have their names blotted out of the book of life. In order to have your name blotted out, it would first have to be written in the book of life.
This is where Revelations 22:19 comes into play, as it says: "If any man take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life." The phrase "book of this prophecy" refers to the whole Bible. 2Peter 1:20-21 reveals that the whole Bible came to us through the medium of prophecy.
These verses from Revelations are speaking directly to the commandment of Jesus found in Acts 1:4. Some people have taken the command by Jesus to wait with fervent prayer for the baptism with the Spirit out of the scriptures. They have interpreted the command to be a personal commandment to 11 men and no others. In order to receive the righteousness of Christ, we must first believe in Jesus, for according to John 3:16, all who believe in Jesus receive everlasting life. This means they are washed from their sins and receive a white robe. Their names are written in the book of life. However, if having received the righteousness of Christ, being washed from your sins and your name written in the book of life, you then disobey the commandment Jesus gave after establishing the Church, because by interpretation the commandment to wait for the baptism with the Spirit is determined not to apply to Christians today, and is ignored, this sets up a continual disobedience to the only commandment Jesus issued to Christians. By this disobedience, unrepented of, the righteousness gained by faith in Jesus, is lost by habitual disobedience. This continual disobedience washes away the righteousness obtained by faith in Jesus and Jesus said your name will be blotted out of the book of life.
Jesus said: "If you love me, keep my commandments." This most certainly includes the only commandment issued to Christians, as well as a few of those issued to Jews under the old covenant.
The overcomers are those who overcome all the negativity concerning the gift of tongues to obey the commandment Jesus gave the Church. What happens to those who were washed in the blood of the lamb but live out their lives in disobedience to the one commandment of the new covenant? I can't answer that question. But this I know, their part is removed from the book of life and the holy city and the things written in the Bible. This does not sound pleasant to me. I like obedience better.
Jesus said all who believe on me will have rivers of Living Water flowing out of their bellies. If rivers of Living Water are not flowing out of your belly, you are not believing on Jesus!
